Averatec 3200 and 3250 laptop DC power jack repair

Averatec 3200 and 3250 laptop DC power jack repair

We get many calls regarding the Averatec 3200 and 3250 series laptops. Yes, we do our DC jack repair on these models. Apparently many repair shops are turning away these laptops for some reason. We are an authorized Averatec repair center,Fujitsu Laptop Battery, and we do offer the DC jack repair service on these laptops as well as any other repair we offer.

On the 3200 and 3250 Averatec models, the DC power jack is situated on a separate power board rather than on the motherboard itself. There is a cable attaching the DC power board to the motherboard. Every once in a while the DC power board sustains burn damage when the jack breaks. This board is small and fragile. In the event that a simple DC jack repair is complicated by damage to this board, we do have these boards available to us. Either way, we see an extremely high success rate with DC jack repair on these Averatec laptop models.

Compaq Presario 2100, 2200 and 2500 laptop power DC jack repair

The Compaq Presario 2100, 2200 and 2500 model laptops are very common DC power jack repair candidates in our shop. FPCBP80,The motherboard is basically the same as many of the HP ZE series laptops and is considered one of the most solid motherboards in any laptop we see. The big flaw in the Compaq 2100, 2200 and 2500 laptops, however, is they use one of the weakest DC jacks in existence. Plus, there's no aluminum shield on the power jack itself, so the jack is held in place only by the 3 contacts soldered onto the motherboard. Thus, many of these end up with a broken or loose DC jack and come in for DC jack repair.

These laptops are definitely, in the author's opinion, worth having the DC jack replaced because of the fact that there are very few other problems that tend to come up with these Compaqs. So, if you own one of the Presario 2100, 2200 or 2500laptops and are experiencing power problems due to a bad DC connector,FPCBP77, our $99 DC jack repair service will have you enjoying your laptop for years to come!

Toshiba Satellite A75 DC jack repair

What is the most common Toshiba laptop we see for DC jack repair? You guessed it. It's the Toshiba Satellite A75. It uses the same defective DC power jack that many of the Gateway and HP laptops use that appear to have come from a bad die in the manufacturing process. So, many owners have an intermittent power connection or even no power at all due to the broken DC jack. We replace this DC jack with a power connector made by a different manufacturer. Again, this new DC jack is much stronger than the original jack but is the same 4 pin configuration with the same barrel and center pin size so that it will fit the power adapter plug just the same as the original jack did.

Most people with power problems related to a broken or loose DC power jack on a Toshiba A75 have read many pages on the Internet regarding the frequency of these DC jack issues, so this is not likely to be news. Comprehensive Computing offers a fix for this problem: our $99 laptop DC power jack repair service!FPCBP68, We'll repair your Toshiba Satellite A75 series laptop by replacing the DC jack, which will save you from having to replace the motherboard, for only $99 plus return shipping. Gateway MA7, MA3, MA2 and MA2A DC power jack repair

We see many Gateway laptops here for our DC jack repair service, and we're beginning to wonder about a problem with the DC jack (power port) that was factory-installed in the Gateway MA2, MA2A, MA3 and MA7 laptop models. This jack tends to break right at the same juncture: the intersection between the back plastic wall of the DC jack and the positive terminal coming from the back where the jack is soldered into the laptop's motherboard. Other DC jack types tend to come in to our repair center broken in a variety of ways. This jack, however, is almost always cracked or broken right in the same place. This leads us to believe that this DC jack was possibly defective right from the die in which it was created.FPCBP63, (We will note that Gateway was not at fault. They, along with HP, Compaq and Toshiba, purchased this DC jack from a 3rd party vendor.)

How do we fix this situation? When we get one of these Gateway laptops in for DC jack repair, we replace the defective DC jack with a new jack from a different manufacturer. This replacement power socket is much stronger than the original and not as likely to break as the original jack. It will still fit the power adapter just the same as the original jack, as it has the same center pin size and barrel diameter as the original DC jack.

By avoiding the problems associated with this defective DC jack in the first place, FPCBP95 ,we significantly reduce the likelihood that your Gateway MA2, MA2A, MA3 and MA7 series laptop will be back for DC jack repair in the future.

HP ZV5000 and ZX5000 and Compaq R3000 power problems

HP ZV5000 and ZX5000 and Compaq R3000 power problems

We've read a few articles and heard many people talk about motherboard problems with theHp laptop battery HP Pavilion ZV5000 and ZX5000 series laptops and the Compaq Presario R3000 series laptops. Over the past couple of years we have seen many of these laptops in our service center for DC jack repair. About 20% of them have had a particular issue that relates to the original broken DC jack problem. The good news is that we have diagnosed and developed a fix for this very small problem. As of today (March 30, 2008), we have a 99.1% success rate combined when it comes to power repair on these 3 models.

This is an example of how having a background in electronic repair as well as computer knowledge benefits us when it comes to your laptop repair. As always, Comprehensive Computing will continue to work to find solutions to common problems affecting the more popular laptop models in circulation. At present, we have invented more than 30 fixes for problems other repair shops turn away. This means we don't simply replace the DC power jack in your laptop,Pavilion ZV5000(hp zv5000 battery), but we have the ability to test the major power circuits and repair common problems that arise and complicate an otherwise routine DC jack repair. That's where the word "comprehensive" comes into our name.

If you are experiencing DC jack or other power problems with your ZV5000, ZX5000, R3000 or any other model laptop, we've got it covered. Check out our DC jack repair service at

DC jack repair turnaround time

The most common question we are asked is regarding our turnaround time on DC jack repair. We turn this repair around in 1 or 2 business days (Monday through Saturday). Not knocking our competitors, but we do see a lot of false advertising saying "same day service" on DC jack repair. Once you visit their sites, however, they contradict that advertisement by saying your laptop would be fixed in 1 to 3 days. Of course it is appealing to have someone tell you they can give you same day service, but we'd rather be completely up front and tell you about our 1 to 2 day turnaround. That way we avoid false expectations and give you exactly what you are paying for. Gas prices? What about COMPUTER REPAIR prices?

Now let us preface this post with this: each business is entitled to price its own products and services at Presario R3000(compaq r3000 battery),will. After all, this is one of the beautiful things about doing business in America, right? But, it seems that lately the prices of computer repair have gotten out of hand almost as badly as fuel prices.

In one example, one of the local shops in our area charges an astounding $199 to reinstall your Windows operating system on your computer. No, this doesn't include the price of the Windows disc itself. This is for labor only. Their work may very well be as good as our own, but we charge $70 for this very same service. With the rising cost of gas and food, the average American is already feeling the budget pinch. So, many people are finding themselves priced out of owning a decent working computer when they opt to feed their families or buy gas for their commute to work rather than give in to these shops charging 2 to 3 PP2100, Presario R3000(compaq r3000 battery), Presario X6000, Pavilion ZV5000(hp zv5000 battery), times more than repair services would seem to be worth.

It is our commitment at Comprehensive Computing to keep our prices as low as possible.Presario V2000(compaq v2000 battery), Sure, we have bills to pay just like any other business. But we feel that by continuing to offer you the most professional service at fair working class prices we are not only able to meet your computer repair needs, but we are also doing our best to be good citizens by not gouging prices. You will always get our bottom price on anything we do for you at Comprehensive Computing. That's a promise. :-)

HP ZD7000 laptop DC jack repair issue -- motherboard damage

The HP ZD7000 series of laptops are, in our opinion, among the best of HP's creations. This laptop has a full 17 inch LCD as well as the extended numeric keypad keyboard. Typically a DC power PP2100, Presario R3000(compaq r3000 battery), Presario X6000, Pavilion ZV5000(hp zv5000 battery), jack repair on this model goes smoothly without incident. On some of these laptops we have received, however, the motherboard will sustain some burn damage right at intersection of the motherboard and the positive terminal of the DC jack itself. In some cases the motherboard will burn through its own insulation between the positive and ground circuits and cause a short. The good news is that we can almost always repair this problem while we replace the DC PP2100, jack in this laptop. It takes a little improvisation, but we have a fix for this problem. And, it won't cost you a penny more than the standard $99 we charge for our DC power jack repair service.

Laptop will not charge battery -- why?

Laptop will not charge battery -- why?

Laptops begin showing battery charging problems for a few reasons. Of course the number one reason we see laptops that won't charge the battery is due to a broken or loose DC power jack. If the laptop can't receive power from the AC adapter properly,IBM Laptop Battery,it cannot charge the battery at all or will only charge intermittently. In these cases, our $99 DC jack replacement will fix the problem and allow the notebook to properly charge the battery.

Occasionally there is a problem with the charging circuit on the motherboard that is unrelated to the DC jack itself. This is a rare problem, however it does happen from time to time. These types of problems can be a lot of trouble to trace down.

Another reason for battery charging issues is the AC adapter (charger) itself. This is more common in many of the Dell laptops that utilize the larger barrel power plug. They have a 19 volt circuit as well as a 3.5 volt data circuit. A multitude ThinkPad T40, of problems with these power adapters will prohibit the laptop from charging the battery. Also, we see many HP, Gateway, Comaq, Acer, Averatec and Toshiba laptops come in with dead power adapters and often have problems with the DC jack as well requiring repair.

A third reason laptops can't charge batteries is actually a dead battery. IBM Laptop Battery
ThinkPad T40, ThinkPad T41, ThinkPad T42 Series, ThinkPad T43, ThinkPad R50, Sometimes the battery simply needs to be replaced. If a laptop's battery sits completely discharged for a long period of time, it may not ever be charged again. This is particulary true for many of the Toshiba and HP laptop batteries from a couple of years ago. Again, defective laptop batteries can be a side effect of a problem with the power adapter or a bad DC power jack. If you purchase another battery for your laptop and find that it is still not charging, your laptop likely has a bad DC connector or AC power adapter.

Feel free to contact us regarding your laptop power problems. We have a very quick turnaround and low price onThinkPad T41, DC jack replacement and other repair options.

Laptop LCD screen replacement

While many people think of Comprehensive Computing as the laptop DC jack repair place, we do quite a few LCD screen replacements in laptops as well. We see many broken or cracked LCD screens here for replacement, and in fact it has become one of our most common laptop repairs.

We replace many 14.1, 15, 15.4 and IBM Laptop Battery
ThinkPad T40, ThinkPad T41, ThinkPad T42 Series, ThinkPad T43, ThinkPad R50, 17 inch LCD screens for less than any competitor we know. Installation of the new LCD screen is included with purchase as well. Most of the common LCD models can be replaced for $159 to $199 depending on the size. Turnaround time is typically ThinkPad T42 Series, 2 business days if we have the LCD screen in stock and 5 business days if we need to order the LCD screen.

Looking for the longest battery life laptop Hp 337607-003 battery, dg103a , 336962-001 ? Actually, many factors affect the amount of time that a laptop battery can deliver power before it must be recharged.

How to extend laptop battery life? Here are some more tips to improve your notebook's battery life:

1. If you do not use your laptop for extended periods of time (a week or more), remove the battery pack from the laptop.

2. Do not expose the battery to high heat or freezing temperatures. Do not leave your battery in your car in the summer. Hot batteries discharge very quickly, and cold ones can't create as much power.

7. Leaving a battery in a laptop while using an electrical outlet for long periods of time will keep the battery in a constant state of charging up and that will reduce the life cycle of the battery.

Battery-saving sleep modes: Should I use Stand By or Hibernate

Standby mode

Use standby to Hp PB994A battery save power when you will be away from the computer for a short time while working - your monitor and hard disks turn off, all applications and open files are stored in RAM. When you want to use the computer again, it comes out of standby quickly, and your desktop is restored exactly as you left it.

Hibernation Mode

Use hibernation to save power when you will be away from the computer for an extended time while working - your computer shuts down to save power but first saves everything in memory on your hard disk. When you restart the computer, your desktop is restored exactly as you left it.

When you choose Start, Turn Off Computer in Windows XP, your options are Stand By, Hp PB991A battery Turn Off, and Restart. To Hibernate, place the cursor over Stand By, then hold down Shift and click.

Basic Tweak

Basic Tweak

If you own a recent ATI or nVidia graphics card, then you have access to a basic clock tweaking feature. Go to the Control Panel, access the Display, choose the Appearance tab, and click on Advanced Settings. Depending on the model Toshiba Laptop Battery of your graphics card, there may be automatic clock reducing features. Look for names such as POWERPLAY and configure appropriately (set to Max Battery when not using 3D graphics).

Disabling Components

There are many components on your laptop that are rarely used. However, the components are still on standby, wasting precious power. Disabling unused components is a great way to save power.

To disable a component, right click on "My Computer" and select "Hardware." Then, click on the "Device Manager" button. This will access the Device Manger, which lists all the components in your laptop. You can now disable any component at your leisure by finding the component of choice, right-clicking on it, and selecting "Disable."

Possible devices to consider disabling or disconnecting:

Wireless (some laptops have a on/off switch)

Bluetooth

Modem

Serial/Printer/VGA/SCSI ports

Infrared device

CD-ROM/RW or DVD-ROM/RW drive

Memory card

LAN

Sound

Remember that after Toshiba Satellite 2100 Battery disabling these components, you will need to re-enable them the same way to be able to use them again.

Additional methods

Decrease LCD brightness

Another method in maximizing battery life is setting the screen brightness.'Dim the LCD screen to the lowest comfortable level to achieve maximum battery life. If you're going to watch a DVD movie, set the brightness to its lowest if the lights in the surrounding room are off.

Standby/Hibernate

Place your computer on Standby as often as possible. When you are not using your computer for a while, place your computer into Hibernate; and when you are not using it for the time being, shut down your computer.

You can recover the previous work state of your computer faster when your computer is in Hibernate than when it is shut down. If your computer is on Standby, it takes a much shorter time to recover the work state as compared with Sony PCG-Z505 battery

recovery from Hibernate.

Disabling Processes

Running many unnecessary programs will cause your CPU to run harder, and thus use more energy. Therefore, removing any unecessary processes to save battery power.

Spyware/Virii/Hackers

Spyware and virii are destructive programs that can cause your CPU to work for them, and should be removed at once. Hackers can put virii and other malicious programs on your laptop as well, causing your CPU to work more often. Sony PCG-V505 battery Even if battery life is not a problem, it is always good to maintain a secure laptop.

Be sure to keep your virus scanner updated at all times.

AVG Antivirus is a great FREE antivirus scanner.

Spybot S&D, as well as Ad-aware, are great FREE anti-spyware programs. Download both, since they are not all 100% effective.

Using a firewall can prevent hackers from accessing your laptop, and should be active at all times. Windows has a built-in firewall (Windows XP SP2 and above) that works fine. ZoneAlarm is a great FREE firewall, better than the built-in Windows firewall.

Keeping Windows updated through patches is always a good idea to prevent hacker attacks. A common way for hackers to access your computer is through Internet Explorer. Even the latest patched version still has security "holes." Download Firefox, the Sony PCG-R505 battery best FREE web browser, to alleviate these problems.

Unnecessary Startup Processes

Laptops bought from companies such as Dell, Compaq, Gateway, Emachines, IBM, etc, have many'unnecessary startup programs. Disabling these programs not only saves battery life, but also saves precious RAM. By removing these programs from the startup repretoire, you also have the advantage of having a faster startup time.

First, select "Run..." in the Start menu.

Then, input "msconfig" into the field

Access the "Startup" tab, and take a look at the programs you have starting up. Disable'everything that you don't need. Examples of programs that you need include:

ATI Tool (from the Laptop Underclock/Undervolt guide)

RM Clock (from the Laptop Underclock/Undervolt guide)

ctfmon

MSN/Yahoo/Trillian

Misc. hardware programs, eg for a HP printer

Virus scan

Experiment! Another good idea is to Sony VGP-BPS10 battery, disable everything, then take a look at what's missing that you need, find the program that you need (take a look at the Command - it shows where the program is located), and enable it. Then, repeat. If you don't know what a program is, you should probably disable it

Next, click on the "Services" tab. Check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" tab. Although you can disable many Microsoft services to further increase performance, we are not going to cover it. You can search on the internet for guides that will help you with this. It's a lot more difficult, and the results are different for each person.

Again, do as you did for the Startup tab. Keep everything that you think you might need. Be sure to keep your Antivirus scanner service. Many program services are just to aid in load times, or other trivial tasks. Disable them, then test the program to see if it still works.

Conclusion

By configuring your laptop effectively, one can Sony laptop battery easily increase laptop battery life. In this guide, we discussed proper laptop battery care, configuring your laptop Power Profile, configuring your graphics card, disabling hardware, disabling software, and protecting your computer from malevolent programs. Following these simple tasks will lead to a safer laptop with a longer battery life.

The Basic CPU Tweak

The Basic CPU Tweak

Laptop Battery Optimization Guide (Basic)

This tweak will enable th eToshiba Satellite A65 Series Battery basic, built-in power-saving function in your CPU. Go to your Control Panel, and select 'Power Options". There are 3 settings that matter to you:

Home/Office Desk - This setting will disable'the power-saving features for your CPU only when the notebook is plugged in the AC adapter. When Home/Office Desk is set while running the battery, the CPU can still throttle down.

Portable/Laptop - This will enable PowerNow!, Cool&Quiet, or SpeedStep, if your CPU supports it. These technologies all clock down your CPU when not in use, thus saving you battery life while maintaining similar performance.

Max Battery - This setting is only useful when you are really desperate for battery life. By switching to this profile, the CPU will be set to the lowest setting, which should be around 600Mhz to 800MHz. This will severely hinder performance when needed, though.

Additional settings mentioned below will also improve your battery life.Toshiba Satellite 1900 Battery By setting the monitor or hard drive to turn off when not in use, you can also save battery power. Be sure to modify only the 'Running On Batteries' column.

Turn Off Monitor - This setting will turn off your monitor when not in use. Only turn this on if you won't need to look at your screen, eg if you're gone from the keyboard, or if you're only listening to music. However, if you are watching a movie, the monitor will still turn off after the allotted time has passed, making this a potentially annoying feature.

Turn Off Hard Disks - This setting turns off your hard drive(s) when not in use after the allotted time. This is rather useful, because many programs, when running, do not actually access the hard drive. However, setting it too low will prove an annoyance, because it takes a while for the hard drive to go from off to on.

System Standby - Again, like the previous settings, this will make your system go Toshiba Satellite A60-662 Battery, into Standby mode after the allotted time has passed. This is only useful if you'll be gone from the keyboard.

GPU Tweaks

Tweaking the Graphics Card

When performing basic 2D tasks, such as web browsing or other tasks, the speed/quality of the graphics card makes no difference. Therefore, it is in your best interest to turn down the power of the graphics card to increase battery life. The most effective way to accomplish this is to lower the clock speed of the graphics card core and memory. If you have integrated graphics, you have limited access, and can not perform ANY of the following tweaks.

Before you get started, you should find out what card you have by going to Control Panel -> Display -> Settings
